GCPE: The global dataset of crop phenological events for agricultural and earth system modelling

The occurrence dates of crop phenological events are closely related to the timing agronomic management and therefore key information for agricultural monitoring forecasting as well climate change impact assessment adaptation planning. However, sowing harvesting only variables available in current global datasets. Here, we present 0.5° grid dataset phenology 2000 (the average 1996-2005), called GCPE, developed using a model, potential windows estimated from agroclimatic conditions, site observations worldwide collected 319 literature. Crops considered include maize, rice, wheat, soybean. This offers plausible peak sowing, emergence, maturity those silking flowering soybean, heading transplanting, rice. Distinctions made between fully irrigated rainfed conditions winter spring wheat dry- wet-season rice tropics.
